Queensland Disability Employment Statistics
The economy of Queensland has enjoyed a boom in both mining and tourism in the last twenty years. An influx of
interstate and overseas migrants, as well as large amounts of federal government investment, have increased mining
of large mineral deposits and expanded the state’s aerospace sector. The main industries in Queensland include
pineapples, bananas, peanuts, a number of tropical and temperate fruits and vegetables, wineries, grain crops,
cotton, cattle, wool, sugar cane, and mining. The mining industry in Queensland produces coal, silver, gold,
bauxite, zinc, lead, and copper. Refineries for sugar cane and copper are located along the eastern coastline.
Disability Statistics Queensland - In Queensland 6,020 people used Accommodation Support services in the
year 2007. During this same year, 12,494 people used Community support, 4, 799 people used Respite services, and
17,566 people used Employment services. In Australia as a whole during 2007, 245,746 people used similar
services.
